With the progress of modern science and technology, the new technology has beenapplied to all walks of life. As the increasing emphasis on National Geological Survey andmapping industry, the method and technique of surveying is also gradually renewal. GPSmeasurement technology based on CORS system because of the characteristic of highaccuracy, high work efficiency, low cost and so on, has won more and more attention ofgeologists. It has been more and more widely applied to geological mapping work. Itimproves the geological surveying and mapping work quality and efficiency to a greatextent.GPS with its global, all-weather, continuous, practical and versatile navigation,positioning and timing of each series of functions, Can provide accurate coordinates, speedand time for all types of users. So it has won the trust of Surveying and mapping workersand successfully used in all kinds of Surveying and mapping work. thus GPS brings aprofound technological revolution to the field of Surveying and mapping.CORS technology is based on the global satellite positioning system andcommunication technology as the foundation, It established multiple permanent continuousoperation of satellite positioning data receiving station in a certain range of area and acceptall the reference station of satellite data and to deal with the use of modern communicationtechnology. The system offers all kinds of high precision space location service anddiversified information services for users.By the CORS system, the measurement technology of GPS has much meaning asimproving the level of mapping technology, unifying surveying and mapping, avoidingmeasurement mark duplicate construction and providing a wide range of informationservices and so on.The CORS system depends on the development of GPS satellite technology, at thesame time it established promotes the research on GPS application also. The CORS systemwill promote the GPS development to a higher level.This paper briefly introduces the basic theory, technical principle and methods ofwork of GPS and CORS system.It focuses on introducing the application of TJCORS ingeological projects and achievements. In order to GPS measurement technology in the application of the ground settlement monitoring in Tianjin under TJCORS system andapplication of VRS technology in the field of verification of mining right As an example inthis paper, It verified the reliability and feasibility of this technology. And in the futuregeological surveying and mapping work makes full use of the TJCORS for geologicalprojects.
