Relationship Research Of Fidelity Versus Simulation Effectiveness And Fidelity Versus Costs

Fidelity is one of the key factors affecting the simulation process. In the process of simulation the developer develops a model under a certain fidelity with some cost.This model has effectiveness to the user. From the dimensions and hierarchical structure of fidelity this paper finds the relationship of fidelity versus simulation effectiveness and fidelity versus costs. This relationship lays the foundation of guiding simulation practice for fidelity.The dimension of fidelity is divided into physical fidelity, logical fidelity, behavioral fidelity and visual fidelity. Every dimension of fidelity is decomposed into hierarchical structure. The attribute of simulation effectiveness is divided into external similarity, rationality, credibility, reusability and timeliness. Physical fidelity and visual fidelity affect external similarity. Logical fidelity affects rationality. Physical fidelity, logical fidelity and behavioral fidelity affect credibility. Physical fidelity and logical fidelity affect reusability. Logical fidelity, behavioral fidelity and visual fidelity affect timeliness. Based on the dimension of fidelity and attribute of simulation effectiveness this paper find the relationship of fidelity versus effectiveness. Using the same method the paper find the relationship of fidelity versus costs. Finally the paper constructs fidelity specification to help the developer and VV&A agent dell with fidelity problem in the whole development process. The fidelity specification guarantees the final model meet the requirement of user at a reasonable price.
