Product modular design is a key link in the process of mass customization, through thevariant design of the module and the function of the configuration design can get differentcombination products.In this paper, the complex network theory combined with mechanicalproduct module partition was introduced to build up a static parts relation network ofproduct.From the product model of main components’ gradation and overlaps, an improvedalgorithm based on the module’s modularity was put forward. In this algorithm which used themodularity as a condition of module division, reasonable product modules could be partitionedrapidly while overlapping and hierarchical community structures of complex product familywere also revealed simultaneously. An insurance cabin’s modular design was used as an exampleto verify the method’s feasibility. Combining multiple agents system and parts relation network,three kinds of network evolution models were built to analyze the dynamic evolution of thenetwork of product family structure. Finally, a micro card type automobile products was used asan example and the above network evolution models were built on the NetLogo platform tosystem simulation.The paper’s main contents are as follows:Chapter one mainly introduces the research background and significance, and this paperinvolved the related concepts, complex networks, and modular design in mass customization andits research status at home and abroad, finally expounds the subject source and thesis framework.Chapter two introduces the basic concept of complex network, several basic model and itsrelevant characteristic parameters and properties. A network model based on complex network ofproduct family was proposed and constructed.Chapter three introduces the community structure of complex networks and thecharacteristic of overlapping and hierarchy of its structure, studies and analyzes the commoncomplex network community clustering method.Based on this,the optimization algorithm basedon module was put forward, the algorithm is applied in an insurance cabin’s modular design.Chapter four combining multiple agents system and complex networks based on the staticnetwork mode, and on NetLogo simulation platform to build three evolution models: add nodesto the optimal stochastic model, random merit to remove node model, stochastic optimalmodifying existing connection model.Chapter five a micro card type automobile product modular design, for example, inNetLogo platform built around three evolution model of simulation platform, for real-time observation network of product family in the evolution of the three kinds of evolution model andits corresponding degree and intensity distribution.Chapter six summaries and outlook the whole paper.
