This paper aims to build an evaluation index system for typhoon disaster risk assessment, with GIS technology to make use of meteorological data, remote sensing data, geographic information data and socio-economic statistics data,Zhejiang province is divided into500m x500m spatial units. With analytic hierarchy process, weighted comprehensive evaluation method, normalization method and risk evaluation based on system of geographic information,it is able to assess risk of typhoon hazard-formative factors, sensitivity of inducing environment, vulnerability of hazard-affected bodies and distribution of capacity of preventing disaster, for eventually getting the typhoon comprehensive disaster risk assessment and regionalization of Zhejiang province according to the risk assessment model.During the assessment process, by putting the result of the spatialization of the population and GDP statistics data as the index of hazard bearing body vulnerability refined assessment, improves the accuracy of typhoon risk assessment and zoning.By reviewing the analysis of the assessment result,it reveals:(1)The typhoon risk in Zhejiang province is descending from coastal to inland;the utmost high risk level area is mainly the very coastal region;and the second high and medium risk level area is mainly those coastal inland cities and cities along the Hangzhou bay; the west side area cities have lower risk level.Combined hazard bearing body to the refined assessment of vulnerability,it shows:though the cities in the north of Zhejiang province like Hangzhou, which has medium risk level and small rate of being attacked front by typhoon, however, with its downtown’s high density of population and large GDP output, still could cause cannot-be underestimated losses when once encounters strong winds and continuous heavy rainfall.(2)To intercept population and GDP spatialization in areas with different risk levels, the result indicates:Typhoon highest risk level areas correspondents maximum distributed population, and then the second highest and medium risk level areas;in those highest and medium risk level areas,GDP output could be deeply affected, while in the second lowest and lowest risk level areas,GDP output could be hardly and little affected.
