The observing systems of meteorological sensor networks deploy a large number of sensor nodes around the observation area. These nodes form a self-organizing perception network. The collected data is transmitted and processed to the sink by a multi-hop manner. The wireless sensor network apply to the field of meteorological observation, we need to design a medium-distance and long-distance transmission nodes.Research work includes hardware circuit design and software implementation of the wireless sensor nodes. In the structures of hardware, we design the communication circuits, power management circuits, analog sampling circuits, digital sampling circuit, SDI-12sampling circuits, serial interface circuit and temperature and humidity sensors’ circuits design. We design a dual-band communication mechanism combing2.4GHz with915MHz communication circuits. We select ATmega128L as its core processor; the communication distance can reach3000meters. Data acquisition processor NANO130chip could collect different types of digital and analog signals of meteorological data. In the power supply circuit, we increase the solar-charging module and USB-charging module. At last, based on the circuits above, we achieved the drive codes.After large-scale performance tests, we draw some conclusions. We obtained the voltage change rate is relatively stable in the charging of solar-charging module and the voltage drop is relatively slow in the charging of solar-charging module. Most importantly, the solar-charging module has the ability to compensate for power consumption of sending and receiving data. They can support the nodes runs longer in the rainy day. Wireless sensor nodes apply for meteorological observation field should be satisfied the requirements of long-distance transmission.
