The multi-mass elastic torsion system was abstracted from the heavy-load and synchronous operation problems. The structure is widely used in daily life, and the effective control of the system is necessary for safety and reliability in industrial production.Researches on the control of the multi-mass elastic torsion system were conducted in this article. The model identification of the system and the computer simulation based on the obtained model was implemented. Since the elasticity of the system, it is difficult to control the system in a low speed, so a series of model identification and computer simulation was implemented. After that, combining with the results of computer simulation, the control of the actual system in different speed was implemented.In order to analyze the characteristics of the multi-mass elastic torsion system, the estimation of the model is necessary. In consideration of the elasticity of the system, combining with the advantages of the fractional system, fractional system identification was implemented. It is not convenient to obtain the fractional orders in time domain, in consideration of the stochastic search pattern of the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), the PSO algorithm was used to identify the multi-mass elastic torsion system, and a fractional order model was obtained. By contrast, the integer system identification based on PSO was implemented as well, and the performance indicator of fractional system is better than integer system as shown in the results, laying a foundation of analysis and control of the system.There are many advantages in the classic PID controller, in consideration of the elasticity of the system and the characters of the fractional model, fractional PIλDμ controller was introduced. The parameters of the controller can affect the result, and it is not convenient to obtain the fractional orders in traditional methods, in consideration of the stochastic search pattern of the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), combining with the system performance indicator, the parameters setting was carried out. By contrast, the parameters setting of classic PID was implemented as well. As shown in the result, the control effect of the fractional PIλDμ was better than the classic PID ones.The existing tools can not realize the fractional PIλDμ controller. The Automation Studio software provides a controller design method by C programming. The fractional PIλDμ controller was designed in this software, combining with the result of computer simulation, the control of actual system in different speed was finished.The experiments show that, the result of computer simulation can provide a valuable reference for the control of actual system. The system obtained a good control effect with two kinds of controllers, and the fractional PIλDμ controller can provide a better result.
