| Behavioral biology and habitat selection of Whiskered Tern in breeding season were investigated in Qixinghe National Nature Reserve from May to July in 2013 and 2014. The data using Instantaneous and scanning Sampling, focus animal sampling and All-occurrences were used; and the use of infrared video recording function for field data acquisition. Compare the significant difference between different gender and stage by the method of Kolmogorov-Smironov and t-text. Based on the principal component analysis, find the most important influencing factors for nest-site selection.The results showed that the breeding behavior and feeding behavior of Whiskered Tern accounted for the largest proportion penetrating all stages in the breeding season. The proportion of male and female was 29.02%,23.02%,51.56%,16.29% respectively. In early breeding period, Whiskered Tern had definitely diurnal rhythm. In different stages of incubation periods, breeding behavior, locomotion behavior, preening behavior, feeding behavior and resting behavior excited significant differences (P<0.01), but egg -drying behavior and others behavior had no distinguished (P>0.05). For different sex, locomotion behavior, preening behavior, feeding behavior, resting behavior, nest-lying and egg -drying had obviously difference (P<0.001). Nest-fixing behavior (P>0.01). Copulating and others behavior had no distinguished.Whiskered Tern preferred to nest on reed and cattail swamp. Nest material basically is given priority to with reeds and cattails, nest for group, Around the nest have big bright surface. The accumulated contribution rates of principal component factor account to 87.68%. The most suitable habitat factors include:Nest around the depth of the water(35.00-55.00cm), Nest under the depth of the water(39.58±8.71cm), Vegetation coverage (23.38±4.95%). The dominated vegetation is cattail and reed. The height and density of cattail is 61.57±9.96cm,36.91±9.51%. The height and density of reed is 109.89±6.93cm,31.06±6.25%. |
