Multiprotein Complex By Elastin-like Polypeptide And Collagen Polypeptide And Its Use For Modification Of SOD

Elastin-like polypeptides (ELPs) are artificially designed polypeptides, they are widely used for purification of proteins. Collagen polypeptides (CLPs) have many potential applications. In this work, we have designed a multiprotein complex by fusion of an ELP to a CLP. The multiprotein complex was constructed and expressed in E Col. It has been found that the size ratio of ELP to CLP has an effect on the self-assembly of the multiprotein complex. Further research was carried out by fusion of the multiprotein complex to superoxide dismutase. It demonstrated that the enzyme superoxide dismutase can be efficiently purified through phase change, this is a simple and sustainable manner to purify superoxide dismutase. The activity of superoxide dismutase has been well reserved in comparision to the unmodified one.
