Sandwich cylinder and sandwich curved plate as a kind of structure forms are used more and more widely in the field of engineering. The mechanical properties are gradually getting people’s attention. This paper takes the hard sandwich cylinder and sandwich curved plate as the research objects, analyzes the stability and free vibration characteristics.The first part of the pater study the stability and free vibration characteristics of hard sandwich cylinder. According to the basic hypothesis of this paper and the first order shear deformation theory, we obtain the displacement model, geometric equation and physical equation. Using Hamilton principle established the basic differential equation of stability and free vibration, and reduced to a differential equation with single variable. For simply supported sandwich cylinder, we obtain the critical load of symmetrical buckling under axial compression and natural frequency of free vibration.The second part analyzes the inherent frequency and stability of hard sandwich curved plate. Not only considering the effect of transverse shear and stiffness of the core, also considering the curvature factor. We get the geometric equation and then obtain the basic equation of the curved plate. Through the introduction of a stress function and two new functions, the basic equation can be decoupled. Getting the critical load and natural frequency of sandwich curved plate with different loading under different boundary.The third part, using the finite element software Patran and Nastran analysis the instability and free vibration of sandwich cylinder and sandwich curved plate. In addition, the hard sandwich theory degenerate to the soft sandwich is calculated. Comparative analysis of the hard solution, soft solution and finite element solution, the results show that the hard sandwich solution and finite element solution get closer and close to the soft solution when the core id soft. Finally, this paper analyzes and discusses the elastic modulus, thickness, density and Poisson ration of the core effect on the critical load and natural frequency.hard core, sandwich cylinder, sandwich curved plate, critical load, natural frequency,...
