Impact load has a certain application in the material science and engineering fields,which is usually produced by hammer or explosive, especially the hammer. Recent studies show that impact velocity has a great influence for material degree of grain refinement, the deformation properties of metal materials and powder compaction density. As the research continues, higher velocity amplitude and impact energy is demanded, which is unachievable for the drop hammer restricted by experimental conditions. Strong pulsed magnetic field is applied to metal forming domain at home and abroad, which has been studied on impact effect in the related research, without studying the value of impact velocity and impact ener gy. So it is of great significance to focus on the research on strong pulsed electromagnetic force impact load.The difficulty of theory analysis of the impact of strong pulse electromagnetic lies in the influence of electromagnetic field and the punch m ovement for each other. Electromagnetic force drives the punch movement. The punch movement makes the model parameters of electromagnetic field change, which affects the electromagnetic force. The coupling field analysis is needed.Firstly, this article studied the mechanism design for strong pulsed electromagnetic force impact load, including strong pulsed magnetic field and compression, and analyzed the working principle from generating the strong pulsed magnetic field to converting the electromagnetic force to impact load. Then the body parts design was achieved.Secondly, this article did the finite element analysis for strong pulsed magnetic field and electromagnetic force. The electromagnetic field analysis model was established with finite element software ANSYS, taking measured current as incentive. Then space distribution and difference varying with time of electromagnetic force and distribution regularities of magnetic field were obtained. On this basis, the influence of coil sleeve, distance between coil and driver plate and distance between coil and coil sleeve to electromagnetic force was studied.Then, the punch movement characteristics were analyzed. The simulation results of strong pulsed magnetic field, EMF and the punch movement process were obtained for 10 k V and 7 k V through numerical modeling with finite element software ANSYS. On this basis, the influence of voltage, capacitor and distance between coil and driver plate to the punch movement characteristics was studied.Finally, the high-speed camera is used to record the movement process of the compression impact device for 10 k V and 7k V. Through the image data processing, the value of impact velocity and impact energy was obtained to verify the simulation results. The results show that strong pulsed magnetic impact load has a broad prospect for application.
