With the rapid development of China’s economy and the increasing consumption of resources, the gradually increasing extent of prospectivity and availability of mineral resources in the first prospecting space(0~500m) lead to prospecting become more and more difficult, and therefore developing the second prospecting space(500~2000m) has become China’s top priority in how to alleviate the situation of resources shortage. Advances in exploration technologies raise the depth and precision in mineral resources’ exploration and it is a prerequisite for entering the unapproachable areas and deeper exploration of resources. It is the only way to solve the resource problem. Jiaodong region is the largest gold resource base in China and it is also facing the problem of high-grade resource depletion in surface because of its well-developed exploration extent and surface culture disturbance. This paper introduces a new technology and method called three-dimensional DC/IP method to Jiaodong region and carried out two 3-D(three dimensional) DC/IP detect trials in famous Jiaojia fault zone. Through the study, this paper shows the practice and cognition as follows:(1)Carrying out 3-D DC/IP detect trials in Sizhuang gold deposit which is being mined and data Processing includes picking, stacking, sorting, gathering and bad data points removing et al. After data processing, conducting 3d resistivity inversion to obtain 3-D resistivity model, it coincides with the geology which revealed by borehole and effectively portrays the scale, attitude and buried depth of Jiaojia fault zone, it indicates that distributed 3-D DC/IP method can get effective information in severe disturbance area.(2)Collating and analyzing the existed geological and geophysical data of Sizhuang gold deposit, establishing its geological and geophysical models, conducting 3d forward modeling, and then conducting inversion calculation by using response data of forward modeling as simulate measured data. By comparing the measured data with theoretical data ’ s inversion results, finding that the high resistant and low resistant anomaly correspond with hanging wall and footwall very well. It is confirming the reliability of the method.(3)Do processing about observation and inversions of these data with different observations, after comparing 2-D(two dimensional) with 3-D observation, scalar with vector observation, we could find that 3-D is better than 2-D observation and vector is better than scalar observation in resolution and depth.(4)Carrying out 3-D DC/IP detect trials in Shijia area in order to detect the south of Jiaojia fault zone and preliminary infers that: there is a N-N-W trending fault F1 and a N-W fault F2 in the area, F1 and F2 fault is dislocated by high resistant intrusive body in northwest of the area and this situation results in both of the faults’ structure are complex. The work provides a reference for future work in the region.
