Recently, with the extension of electric machines application and the development of motor manufacturing industry, thermal analysis has become a key factor which affects the system reliability in the electric machine design and optimization process nowadays. Currently, more and more commercial finite element software are used for magnetic-thermal coupled calculation by manufacturers and research institutions. However, there are still a lot of problems during the using process, such as:the longer calculation time, the more computing resources occupancy, and the difficulties in the software customization settings, maintenance and expansion. Thus, a new architecture and optimization method for coupled field finite element programming has been very urgent. To solve these problems, optimize the electromagnetic field and thermal field coupled analysis, in this paper, based on the C++ programming language, object-oriented technology is applied to the finite element programming. At the same time, a single-mesh method for electromagnetic field and thermal field coupled finite element analysis is presented, and the simulation analysis for motors is taken out. The advantage of this approach is the single unit calculation which can avoid errors generated by the data transformation and grid reconstruction. Besides, during the numerical computation of static and transient fields, iterative calculation process is involved, this paper also proposes a programming optimization method based on the master-slave technique. With this method, the symmetry property of the original matrix system can be upheld, and the unknowns of the system can be reduced. Finally, Maxwell-Workbench joint simulation analysis is also used for the electromagnetic field and thermal field coupled analysis. And the outcome of programming will be compared with the simulation results to verify the accuracy and effectiveness of the programming design.
