Copper is one of the scarce mineral resources in China, Yu Long copper mine is a world class super large variety of non-ferrous metals associated minerals in Tibet,Yu Long copper mine development and construction in two stages, the first phase’s water requirement is 3x104m3/d; In the two phase of the project, the water demand is7x104m3/d. Mines by the end of October 2008 to begin production, but because of a variety of reasons, such as smelting method, production has not reached the design scale, and mine water supply problem is restricting the development of mines is one of the important factors, the purpose of this study is to seek to meet the water demand of first phase of the project of the underground water.This paper is based on the project of "Hydrogeological exploration of Yu Long copper mine in Tibet", which was carried out by the North China Engineering Investigation Institute Co. Ltd, Through hydrogeological drilling, surveying and mapping, dynamic observation, water quality analysis, isotope test and group drilling pumping test exploration means, fully study the source of groundwater recharge,runoff and discharge conditions and dynamic characteristics, mainly known as follows:1. The study area is a complete hydrogeological unit with area of 255.87km2,which is located in the above 4100 m altitude of the Tibetan Plateau; T3 b limestone is the main aquifer, the distribution area 147.73km2; Atmospheric precipitation is the main supply source of the groundwater, Juegao river is minimum base level of erosion, groundwater flow together Juegao river from the north, West and South, Groundwater flow along Juegao river in the direction of the southeast, to met T3 j sandstone witch is water-resisting floor groundwater runoff is blocked,formed as a spring, this area is the whole drainage type groundwater system.2. the water source is located in regional groundwater centralized discharge area,aquifer thickness 40-60 m, with good water permeability and strong water yield property, the specific well discharge of well hole is 9.97~54.44L/s.m, the permeability coefficient is 20.05~136.02m/d, single well water discharge is big(321~418m3/h),as well as good condition. Groundwater recharge is abundant, can attack and seize the spring water flow, to stimulate the infiltration of water supply and groundwater flow.3. According to the hydrogeological conditions of the area, excretion method and numerical method is used to computing resources of groundwater recharge amount is4.60x104m3/d; The prediction of groundwater allowable withdrawal is 3.0x104m3/d(B) based on mining test method、isotope method and numerical method. It can meet the requirement of mine project. The groundwater in the water source is guaranteed to be sufficient resources, and the water source will not be harmful to the environment.4. The groundwater chemical type is mainly calcium bicarbonate type, a small amount of calcium bicarbonate type, low groundwater dissolved solids and mineralization degree between 0.161~0.194g/l, are belong to low mineralized water.The water samples were all good(I), which is suitable for the centralized drinking water source and the water for Industry and agriculture. Groundwater chemical indicators, toxicological indicators, bacterial indicators are basically in accordance with the standard of drinking water; Its sediment is less, soft and hard scale, non foaming, semi corrosive water, suitable for industrial boiler water.
