With the rapid development of national economy and the improvement of people’s living standards, the utilization of geothermal resource has become a widespread consensus. Geothermal resource has the advantages of energy conservation and environmental protection, and can be widely used. Because of outstanding environmental and social benefit, it has a broad prospect of development and utilization. Therefore, the rational exploit and utilization of geothermal resource have become a key problem.Anhui province has abundant geothermal resource. Understanding the form reasons and history of underground geothermal water have important reference function for its reasonable exploit and utilization. The physical, chemical and isotopic characteristics of geothermal water can reflect its forming conditions and process, therefore, the study of geothermal water geochemistry is of great significance.In this paper, from the viewpoint of hydrogeochemistry, the hydrogen and oxygen stable isotopic were compared as the breakthrough point of the research for geothermal water, surface water, and shallow groundwater on the basis of geological condition especially the geological structure. And concrete analysis of geothermal waters in each geothermal area was made, combined with water chemical composition, temperature and other relevant information. Then geothermal water was compared in different structure types and in different tectonic units of each type. This study:analyze geochemical features and cycle of geothermal water in Anhui province; interpreted and summarized the hydrogeological reason of geothermal water, deepening the understanding of its origin and forming the new viewpoint of Anhui geothermal water flow system; associated the sustainable utilization of geothermal water with its hydrogeological causes and ordered its sustainable degree, providing the referable basis from the perspective of hydrogeology for the sustainable utilization of geothermal resource in Anhui province.
