Wulingyuan World Natural Heritage was established in 1992, located in the northwest of Hunan Province. Its scope includes the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Tianzishan Nature Reserve and SUOXIYU Nature Reserve.Quartz sandstone landformm (also known as Zhangjiajie landform) is the main type of landform in the Heritage, and the vegetation condition is very complex. This paper combined with the research progress of plant community at home and abroad to study on the Wulingyuan World Natural Heritage plant community, detailed investigation on the distribution, characteristics and structure of the plant communities in the World Natural Heritage, providing data support for scientific protection and utilization of biological resources in this area. The results of the survey are as follows:(1)In the quadrat investigation statistics to the vascular plants 117 families,286 genera,445 species.Containing ferns 10 families,13 genera,17 species; Gymnosperms 3 families,5 genera and 6 species; Angiosperms,104 families,104 genera,422 species.(2)Community plants in family level analysis, tropical distribution division: temperate distribution division roughly 7:3;In the genus level analysis, there are 112 tropical distribution genus and 136 temperate distribution genus, the temperate distribution type is slightly more than the tropical distribution type. The community plants have obvious tropical to temperate transition.(3)The types of forest vegetation in the area are rich, the forest vegetation is well preserved, and the broad leaved forest is distributed in a wide area. According to the division principle of Hunan Vegetation, the vegetation in the area can be divided into 9 vegetation types, almost covering all the vegetation types of sub tropical forest communities.(4)Community diversity along the altitudinal gradient pattern of change performance for:species diversity decreased with the increase of altitude decreased, tree layer diversity index showed the trend of first increased and then decreased with the increasing altitude; shrub layer and herb layer diversity index showed the trend of decreasing with the elevation.(5)Pinus tabuliformis var. Henryi is a special community of Wulingyuan World Natural Heritage quartz sandstone constructive species, and their geographical environment has strong ability to adapt; shrub Rhododendron latoucheae and Pierisformosa show stronger adaptation ability to the environmental. Herb layer Oplismenus compositus and Woodwardia japonica occupies the widest niche and their environmental adaptation ability is the strongest.
