In the study of process hydrocarbon generation, migration, accumulation and forming conditions, hydrocarbon expulsion is a basic, crucial question.Therefore, study on hydrocarbon expulsion of oil and gas resources was carried out, especially the study of the threshold pressure of hydrocarbon expulsion of oil source rock, and the study on kinetics of hydrocarbon expulsion process, the use of modern means to simplify the process of hydrocarbon expulsion were also discussed. This research subject has important significance both in theory and practice. In this study, hydrocarbon source rocks in Dongying depression were experimental samples. The source rock thermal gravimetric data was accessed directly by the technology of thermal analysis. This data can use for the study of hydrocarbon expulsion threshold pressure and hydrocarbon expulsion dynamics. It can avoid setting complex parameters and explain expulsion mechanism by using the technology of thermal analysis. Through scientific calculation, the results can be applied to the quantitative evaluation of hydrocarbon source rock and reservoir prediction. In this experiment, the effects of different particle size and atmosphere on the experimental results were considered at first. The 160 mesh was chosen as the powder size. Secondly, hydrocarbon expulsion threshold pressure is calculated according to the experimental data. As the results, the different hydrocarbon expulsion ability was different. The study of hydrocarbon expulsion threshold pressure qualitatively evaluated hydrocarbon source rocks on the macro. Finally, this study has reference to the hydrocarbon generation kinetics model to study on kinetics of hydrocarbon expulsion of oil source rock. The results of the kinetic parameters calculated were consisnted with the results of hydrocarbon expulsion threshold pressure. It is feasible to reference hydrocarbon generation kinetics model to study on kinetics of hydrocarbon expulsion.
