With the increasing degree of damage to the global environment, the gradual depletion of fossil fuel energy, there is an urgent need for new energy sources to support the functioning of human society. The world is eyeing the ocean, because the ocean area accounts for 70% of the earth’s surface, which has a rich variety of resources, not only oil, natural gas, combustible ice, is also a vast reservoir of clean, renewable ocean energy. As a representative of ocean wave energy can be extracted by suitable means to the energy-rich economies, so much world attention and attention. Research on human wave energy of more than 100 years of history, at present, the use of wave energy technology has been a breakthrough, it has been from the initial research and model experiments to manufacture small devices easy to extract energy from the ocean waves.According to the existing theory and wave energy technology, we designed a new wave energy device, namely direct-drive floating wave energy device. In this paper, we designed the direct-drive floating wave energy device, selected the components, researched the blade hydrodynamic performance and mooring system simulation, did a test tank and sea trials. Research results are as follows:(1) According to ocean wave motion theory, this thesis identified the floating wave energy device direct-drive design principle and principle, introduced the basic theory.(2) According to the basic theory and wave energy requirements for power generation device work, this paper identified the design of floating direct drive wave energy device to determine the structure of the device composed of the main components of the actual need for a customized selection.(3) According to the design determined by means blade size, proportional model, using fluid dynamics software Fluent its hydrodynamic performance analysis, and analysis of the flow rate, the number of revolutions impact on its hydrodynamic performance.(4) Created a small prototype, and made experiments in the sink, optimized the design of the device based on Fluent analysis, verified the feasibility and correctness of the analysis fluid device.
