With people’s enhanced awareness of environmental protection and improved requirement of living environment, how to comprehensively utilize a large number of iron ore tailings and change them into renewable resource become more and more important. In this paper, iron ore tailings were used to produce lightweight, heat preservation, thermal insulation and energy saving new wall materials, which will be the best way to solve above problems. In order to reduce the bulk density of traditional sintered iron tailings wall materials and improve it’s thermal insulation property, the technical of gasification slag added and clay-cement slurry were used to prepare new wall materials respectively. The effects of experiment process and the component on the experimental results were investigated. And on this basis, the performance of the products were tested and analyzed, the main results are as follows:PartⅠ: Effect of addition of gasification slag on the microstructure and properties of sintered wall materials derived from iron ore tailings.(1)The addition of gasification slag can effectively reduce the bulk density and thermal conductivity of the green body.However,the form were more difficultly and the shrinkage rate increased when redundant gasification slag added.The too high sinter temperature were lead to the appearance of black heart in the internal of sample.(2)Extrusion method were used in this investigation.The results showed that sintered tailings wall materials can be gotten with bulk density 1.42g/cm~3, the thermal conductivity 0.218W/(m·K) and compressive strength 19.1MPa when the samples were fired at 950℃while 20% gasification slag was added.(3) The addition of gasification slag can significantly reduce energy consumption as an internal fuel.After the sample were fired,a large number of tiny pores were formed inside the material, at the same time the bulk density and thermal conductivity were also reduced.PartⅡ. The study of preparing lightweight and high strength iron ore tailings wall materials with mechanical agitation combined by clay and cement(1) In the ratios of 65% solid content, 20% clay content , 0.5% dispersant, PH value with 11, 0.7% foaming agent, cement and clay ratio with 1 to 5 , 900℃sintering with 3h, the lightweight wall materials can be obtained with bulk density of 0.94 g/cm~3, thermal conductivity of 0.162W / (m·K) and compressive strength with 13.0MPa.(2) With the technology of clay-cement slurry and the method of dispersion, foaming technology also have been used in this experiment to obtain uniform pore distribution of porous wall materials, and fulfill the preparation of wall materials with lightweight, heat insulation, high strength and other good performance.
