In all kinds of protective clothing, thermal protective clothing is important and mostwidely used. It can protect human body from all kinds of hot damage, such as conduction heat,convection heat, radiate heat, high temperature of molten metal splash damage and hot steamor hot gas damage, and so on. Because of the important role, specific and comprehensiveevaluation of fabrics thermal protective performance is vital. At present, there are many testinstruments and methods of fabrics thermal protection performance, but most of them areused in pure hot environment or in open fire environment. However, in real productionenvironment, protective clothing is used not only in conduction heat and radiation heat, butalso under strong convective heat. But the traditional instruments or methods cannot completethe test of fabrics thermal protection performance only under strong convective heat, and thatis very important. Basing on the problem of traditional fabrics thermal protection tests, a kindof test instrument having adjustable heat flow temperature and heat flow velocity, cansimulate the environment of strong convective heat to measure the fabrics thermal protectionperformance. Considering the high temperature environment of strong convective heat, whichworkers often face, we combine this kind of situation and heat transfer theory and raise threetest methods basing on the instrument. Combing with test equipment and methods, we canmeasure fabrics thermal protection performance well. In the process, we have tested fivefabric samples. Usually, the fabric sample thickness and heavy of square meters increase willimprove the fabric sample thermal protective performance under strong convective heat, butthere are exceptions, it’s according to the specific fabric style. In the same heat flow velocity,fabrics have a certain temperature rule in different flow temperature. In the same heat flowtemperature, fabrics have a certain temperature rule in different heat flow velocity too. Withthe heat flow temperature and velocity increment changing, the changes of fabricstemperature also have rules. At the same time, the appraising indexes to evaluate the thermalprotective performance of fabrics are established.
