Study On The Animal Grain Leather Costume Design

Animal grain leather costume is a major part in leather clothing, whichincludes not only some raw animal skins naturaly having the special grains, buealso some simulation leather clothing by printing or embossing aniaml grains on it.Study shows that the leather costume design in China falls behind theinternational fashion trend. It’s hard to catch up with the international level,especially in the decorative design and application of leather costume. My papermainly focuses on how to develop and create new ways to design leather costume,making the design adjusting to the constant change and development of clothingmarket so as to meet the aesthetic demands of different consumer groups.The first chapter analyzes the background, objective and importance ofstudying the animal grain leather costume design. This part states the domestic andinternational current situation of animal grain leather costume and points out theresearch methods, techniques, experiment plan and feasibility analysis. In addition,it gives the main contents and puts forward the innovation of the research. Thesecond chapter analyzes the aesthetic appreciation of animal grain leather costumedesign from the perspective of phisiology and psychology. That is to say, it studiesthe material needs and spiritual needs of people wearing animal grain leather.From the angle of physiological function, wearing animal grain leather clothingcan keep warm, protect human body, show gender characteristics as well as meetpeople’s material demand. From the angle of psychology, it helps people revealtheir own personality and fully meet people’s spiritual needs. The third chapterstates the simulation design of animal grain leather. It analyzes the reasons forpeople wearing animal grain leather from the perspective of psychology. It alsoexplains the added value of products and enormous contribution, made bysimulation animal grain leather costume, to environmental protection. Finally, it analyzes the possibility to make the grains more changable by redesign. The forthchapter concerntrates on the features of different animal grains and their leathercostume design. Animal grains can be divided into three categories: spots, linesand lumps. This part studies the grain features and redesign of such natural leatheras ostrich skin, leopard skin, tiger skin, zebra skin, crocodile skin and python skin.When designing the animal grain leather costume, we can start from piecingtogether the grains, style mixture and decoration method. Finally, it draws theconclusion that the aesthetic appreciation of animal grain leather clothing andpeople’s physiology and psychology is closely related. Natural animal grainleather and simulation leather have both their advantages and disadvantages, sowhen designing, we should select carefully according to different design locatingand different consumer groups. Each animal grain has its characteristics, whichshould be applied while designing.
