The development and utilization of laterite nickel ore resources have been graduallyon the agenda with the nickel sulfide ore of nickel resource increasingly drying up,andhydrometallurgy, as the main methods and direction of the treatment of laterite, is used todeal with hematite laterite.Integrated with the newly developed atmospheric hydrochloricacid leaching of hematite laterite which was studied by our research group, some processeswas proposed to deal with atmospheric hydrochloric acid leaching solution. In this paper, the process of extraction separation of nickel and cobalt using Cyanex272, the process ofextraction separation of nickel and cobalt using P507, the process of eliminating Fe in theleaching solution using MgO slurry-extraction of Mn using P204-Precipitation of nickeland cobalt were proposed. The main research contents in the current paper are as follows:The process of extraction separation of nickel and cobalt using Cyanex272wasproposed. The effects of extractant concentration, equilibrium pH and O/A ratioonextraction of Ni and Co from solution of atmospheric hydrochloric acid leaching of lateritewere studied. Results showed that: the extraction rate of the nickel and cobalt increasedwith the increase of extractant concentration, equilibrium pH value, O/A ratio. The cobaltextraction rate was98%,and the nickel extraction rate is only about0.3%; the nickelextraction ratein the raffinate solution reached99%. The cobalt extraction compoundof Cowas CoA2.2HA using Cyanex272and the extraction compound of Ni was NiA2.5HA usingCyanex272. It indicated that Cyanex272was effective in separation of nickel and cobalt. The process of extraction separation of nickel and cobalt using P507was proposed. The optimumextraction conditions were determined and The extraction compounds of Niand Co were determined according to the reaction conditions of extraction. Results showedthat: the first extraction of cobalt reached over80%, and the secondary extraction rate ofcobalt was99%, the nickel extraction rate was about0.31%; The cobalt extractioncompound of Co was CoA2.3HA and the extraction compound of Ni was NiA2.HA usingP507.It indicated that P507was effective in separation and enrichment of nickel andcobalt. The study of removing and impuring on laterite ore leaching liquid was carried out.theprocess of eliminating Fe and Al in the leaching solution using MgO slurry-extraction ofMn and Al using P204-Precipitation of nickel and cobalt were proposed in order to getnickel and cobalt slag products. The results showed that: the removal rate of Fe and Alreached99%, and Mn extraction rate reached94%. The nickel content was48%, cobaltcontent was1.2%, Magnesium content was about3%in thenickel and cobalt slag products.
