Self-assembled nanomaterials based on biological template, because of the simpleoperation, easy to get the templates and higher repeatability morphologies, in manypreparation methods showed significant advantages. The insulin fibril’s diameter is lesser,molecular recognition ability and self-assembly ability is higher. Also it has the threedimensional spiral structure and can still keep steady in many chemical conditions, whichmade it being a good biological template. The use of insulin amyloid fibrils (INSAFs) asscafolds to control the synthesis of Pt and Au nanostructures were investigated. Themorphologies and the structures of the samples were characterized by TEM, EDS, XRD etal. Then the catalytic oxidation of CO was tested, to study the nanostructures’ catalyticperformance. The details and results are summarized as follows:The insulin fibrils was used as a template to assemble the platinum nanowires, andthe effects of the salt solution of different reducing agents, different pH values and theeffects of different platinum salt addition on the preparation of platinum nanowires wereinvestigated. The optimal experimental conditions of the synthesis of platinum nanowireswas found. The morphology and the structure of the platinum nanowires werecharacterized by TEM, EDS, XRD. The effects of low-temperature catalytic oxidation ofthe sample of carbon monoxide were inspected, the conversion rate of CO can almostreach to100%.The gold nanochains was assembled with insulin fibrils as a template. The effects ofdifferent salt solution and the adding amount of gold salt precursor on the synthesis ofgold nanoparticles chains were explored. The best experimental conditions for thesynthesis of gold nanoparticles chains were found. By the using of TEM, XRD and othertesting methods to characterize the morphology and structure of the synthesized samples.The experiment of catalytic oxidation of CO is tested by using the synthesis of goldnanoparticles chain. The gold nanoparticles chain has better catalytic effect of COoxidation.
