Vanadium is a kind of high economic value resource, widely used in many fields.China is the world’s major producers of vanadium products, and has many vanadiumtitanium magnetite resources. vanadium titanium magnetite is a kind of vanadium orewith high commercially valuable, but with low vanadium grade. Vanadium titaniummagnetite was enriched through physical methods in industry, then melted in molteniron, converted molten iron into vanadium slag, enriched vanadium. Vanadium slagwas the main raw material with high vanadium grade. It destroyed the spinel phase bycalcium roasting to convert vanadium into acid-souluble calcium vanadate, asVanadium in the slag was present in spinel phase. What’s more, calcium sulfatepresented in leaching process is important to produce the vanadium. In leachingprocess, sulfuric acid was the leaching agent. There is a lot of calcium sulfategenerated in leaching tailings when the sulfuric acid reacted with calcium vanadate.Part of leaching solution was contained by tailings and caused a great number of losses.a lot of water washed the leaching tailings in slag-washing process in order to recyclethose leaching solution, which increased economic costs. Now, Because of few studyin this area, it researched deeply to improve the process.Leaching rate was used for evaluating the difference of leaching process, andcontaining percentage was evaluated the loss of leaching solution, then established theoptimal leaching conditions. When sulphuric acid to ore was0.055g/mol, leaching timemust be1.0h, and using water bath to make the leaching temperature be stable in50℃,the leaching rate of vanadium will be above75%.In order to reduce the content of calcium sulfate in the ore pulp, many kinds ofsmall molecule organic carboxylic acid was used as the additives. The experimentsshowed that vanadium slag’s leaching rate will not be affected and low the content ofcalcium sulfate in the ore pulp. The best process parameters was as follows during theleaching process: the dosage of slag-washing additive was1%total vanadium slagmass; and the water consumption in slag-washing reduced from500mL/100g to100mL/100g.
