The shape memory polymer is getting more and more applications and development in the fieldsof aerospace aviation because of its good shape recovery capabilities, as well as the maneuverabilityof recovery behavior, biocompatibility, and the advantage of low production costs. The mechanicalproperties study of shape memory polymer and its composites is a very significant subject,the studycan give great guidance to the actual application of the SMP material and its composites. It is need togetting further research of the influencing factors in the shape recovery process of shape memorypolymers and their composites.In order to study the mechanical properties and the influencing factors in recovery process ofshape memory polymers and their composites. We first establish the finite element model of the shapememory polymer based on viscoelastic of shape memory polymer, substitute periodic boundaryconditions, and analyze the mechanical properties in the entire process of shape memory of shapememory polymer, then, we do a comparison with existing experimental results. The results show that,the finite element simulation based on the viscoelastic of SMP is entirely feasible, it provides a newstudy method of shape memory polymer.The shortages of shape memory polymer such as low modulus and low intensity also limit theapplications of shape memory polymer materials, taking into account the characteristics of the largedeformation of the shape memory polymer in practical application. In this paper, we put forward twomethods to reinforce the SMP material by carbon fiber. One method is to reinforce the SMP bydiscontinuous short fiber, we studied the influence of fiber volume content, the fiber aspect ratio, fiberend position and other factors to the shape recovery process, the results show that in theshort-fiber-reinforced SMPC, the fixity ratio, the irrecoverable ratio and the nominal shape recoveryratio are dropped; the other method is to reinforce the SMP by long slant carbon fiber and we studiedthe impact factors such as the fiber volume content, and fiber laying to the shape recovery process, theresult shows, with the addition of long-fiber-reinforced, the material modulus and the strength hasbeen significantly enhanced, while the fixity ratio and the irrecoverable ratio of the material reduced,but the nominal shape recovery ratio improved.
