With the development of power electronic devices, intelligent power module (re ferredIPM) have vast prospects on the market of electric appliances, therefore, it is necessary tostudy on the key part of IPM, the aluminum plate, in order to get rid of dependence onimports and provide product competitiveness. At present, the aluminum substrates of IPMproduced in domestic companies are mostly treated by anodizing process, the problem is thatIPM’s service life is short caused by its weaker comprehensive properties including heatdissipation, insulated property, adhesion property between packaging material, etc. In thisstudy, the aluminum plate is treated by micro-arc oxidation surface treatment to be able to geta good overall performance.In this study, the aluminum plates are treated by micro-arc oxidation. The electrolyteconsists of sodium silicate, sodium hydroxide and additive A. The study results obtained theoptimizing process parameters of micro-arc oxidation on aluminum plate which can meetusing requirement in the company through the single factor experiment. And the influences ofeach process parameters on micro-arc oxidation coating’s insulated property, adhesionproperty, etc were investigated.In this paper, the micro-arc oxidation coating’s surface and cross section morphology,composition, crystal structure, insulation properties, adhesion properties, corrosion resistanceis characterized or tested by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD),withstanding voltage tester, etc. The results showed that comprehensive properties ofaluminum plate which is prepared by micro-arc oxidation with the optimized processparameters are in line with the project; the coatings consisting of Al, O, Si is comprised bytwo kinds of phases,-Al2O3and γ-Al2O3; the ceramic coatings have good corrosionresistance, the corrosion current density of aluminum plate’s micro-arc oxidation coating was0.0052μA/cm2, while the anodic oxidation coating’s corrosion current density was0.688μA/cm2.
