As devastating damage can be induced by the explosion of oil tank in gas station, understanding theexplosion process and consequences are of important significance.Theexplosion process of underground oil tank explosion in gas station was simulated based onANSYS/LS-DYNA in this dissertation. The gasoline in oil tank was converted into thecorresponding TNT. The corresponding finite element model was set up based on a practicaloil station. The material model and its parameters for TNT, air and soil are determined. Afully coupled numerical analysis, incorporating the explosion process, has been performed, where the large deformation zone near the charge is solved by the Arbitrary Lagrange–Euler(ALE) method. The propagation rule of shock wave overpressure, the development processof detonation chamber and the ground bulge were observed through the obtained shockwave overpressure distribution nephogram. The obtained peak pressure was compared withthe G. M. Lake Hoff formula and good agreement can be observed. Through comparing theobtained peak overpressure with the overpressure criteria, the range of the damage andinjury was estimated. Through changing the embedment depth of the numerical model to1.1m and2m, theinfluence of the embedment depth on the explosion effect was discussedand the reasonable embedment depth was obtained. At last, the explosion process of twoadjacent underground oil tanks explosion in gas station was simulated based onANSYS/LS-DYNA in this paper. And the results showed the shock wave overpressure ofeach observation point with history curves and peak pressure which also implied thepropagation rule of shock wave overpressure. Through comparing the obtained peakoverpressure with the overpressure criteria, the range of the damage and injury was arrested.
