Aluminum alloy is widely used in aerospace, marine and other fields due to its highspecific strength, excellent corrosion resistance and machinability. For this reason thealuminum-based alloys has become one of the hot points of research. Aluminum-basedamorphous alloys Al88RE6TM6(RE represent rare metal, TM represent transition metal)produced by single roller spinning quenching technology have properties with highmechanical strength, low density and good corrosion resistance. The completelyamorphous aluminum-based alloys has the tensile strength of over1000MPa. Thecorrosion losses of the amorphous alloy Al85Y10Ni5in1M HCl and0.25M NaOHsolutions at293K are68and240times, respectively, smaller than those for thehigh-strength2024alloy subjected to an optimum heat treatment. This paper research thecorrosion behavior of Al88RE6TM6(Ti, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu) system alloys obtained byrapid solidification, the microstructure of the alloys was investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD) and transmission electron microscope (TEM).The results indicated that all of the alloys that had been investigated are amorphousalloys, Al88Ce6TM6(Ti, Cr, Mn) alloys were amorphous/nanocrystalline compositestructure and the Al88Ce6TM6(Fe, Co, Ni, Cu) alloys were fully amorphous. All theseamorphous alloys showed passivation in the process of anodic polarization and bettercorrosion resistance than the pure Al except Al88Ce6Cu6amorphous alloy in neutral NaClsolution. In the acid NaCl solution, the passivation range of seven kinds of a morphousalloys was very narrow, the Al88Ce6TM6(Fe, Co, Ni) amorphous alloys showed thefamiliar corrosion resistance with pure Al, the corrosion resistance of Al88Ce6TM6(Fe,Co, Ni, Cu) amorphous alloys were better than pure Al tested under the same condition. In alkaline NaCl solution, all these amorphous alloys had a long and steady passivationrange in the process of anodic polarization. This indicated that the passivation films ofthese seven kinds of alloys in alkaline NaCl solution was very stable, this indicated that the corrosion resistance of Al88Ce6TM6(Ti, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu) amorphous alloyswere far better than pure Al in alkaline NaCl solution.
