Cuprous halide get national focus all the time for its excellent function. CuI, as a member ofthem, is used as scintillation crystals materials and has a good application prospect in detecting ofultrafast scintillation particle. It is a P-type semiconductor with direct energy gap of3.1ev. CuCl isthe most useful electro-optic crystal, which is used in light modulation field, such as fast lightswitch, electro-optical deflector and so on. There is rare report about CuBr, It needs more study.Since the first ionic liquid was synthesized, their special physical and chemical properties haveattracted more attention. Different from traditional liquid, ionic liquid has some unique property, forexample, wide liquid range, non-volatile and wide electro-chemical window and even can dissolvethe substance which is insolubilization in traditional liquid. In this paper, we study the property of [BMIm]Br-CuI,[BMIm]Br-CuBr,[BMIm]Cl-CuCl andconfirm that the crystal cuprous halide is suitable for growing from solution.Growth of CuI and CuBr crystal in [BMIm]Br has been investigated using cooling method anddifferent temperature method. By improving the device, a bulk single crystal of CuI with the size10mm×9mm×5mm was successfully prepared, but the property of the crystal is not very good. Thecrystallization property of CuBr is better than the CuI, but the CuBr is more vulnerable to theinfluence of oxygen. So far, only some polycrystal was growth from [BMIm]Br-CuBr solution.Analysis on the crystal CuI and CuBr has been performed with XRD, TG/DTA, UV-Vis andfluorescence spectra. The test confirms that the crystals obtained are CuI and CuBr. Through the test, the phase transition temperature, the3.1ev direct energy gap of CuI, emission wavelength andabsorption wavelength of CuBr have been confirmed.Growth of CuCl crystal has been performed with different temperature method in solvent[BMIm]Cl. In order to prevent the continuous oxidation of CuCl in crystal growth process, bellyglass tube sintering-sealed after filling [BMIm]Cl-CuCl was used as growth crucible. A bulk oftransparent single crystal of CuCl in size19mm×7mm×2mm was successfully obtained after80day’s growth. With the help of XRD and TG/DTA analysis, Phase-Transition-Temperature andMelting-Point of the crystal have been confirmed.
