| Bio-composite adsorbent (LC-Zr) was fabricated by loaded zirconia onto poresurface of Artemia shell. The adsorption properties and mechanism of phosphate wasstudied and the Artemia shell was also studied about its special effects in the preparationof LC-Zr as carrier, which can provide fundamental basis for the removal of phosphate.Firstly, nano zirconia was prepared with zirconium oxychloride in certain conditions.the further research showed that nano zirconia has good adsorption performance onphosphate removal. The results of SEM and TEM showed that the zirconia like the seaurchin, which was surrounded by calthrop, the size of the calthrop was between50-100nm, and it has hierarchy structure. This paper discusses the factors affecting the adsorptioncapacity in the adsorption process. The experimental results show that nano zirconia hasthe largest adsorption capacity, and can adsorb phosphate from water selectively under thelow pH value. The adsorption process is mainly based on ion exchange in endothermalreaction. The temperature effection can be well fitted with the Freundlich adsorptionisotherm. Adsorption kinetics is in conformity with the pseudo first order reaction kineticsequation.Bio-composite adsorbent (LC-Zr) was fabricated by zirconia loaded onto poresurface of Artemia shell. The results of SEM-EDS, TEM showed that no partialagglomeration and passage blocking within LC-Zr, and zirconia was well-uploaded asnanoparticles coating with size less than50nm. It suggests that Artemia shell with theasymptotic reduction porous space pattern could assume the dual function mechanism ofnano-pore-templet effect and enhancing macroporous-mass transfer effect comparing withcommon carrier materials. It was observed that the adsorption performance was affectedby the pH values, and the optimal pH values for adsorption ranges from1to5. Batchadsorption experiments indicated that LC-Zr exhibits nice selective adsorption capacityfor phosphate compared to D201and Aresenx, even when some other anions exist, likesulfate, chloride and nitrate. Furthermore, Dynamic experiment showed that LC-Zr haslarge adsorption capacity, which has good adsorption performance on phosphate removal. |
