At present, the prompt gamma-ray neutron activation analysis technology has been well used inmany fields such as geology, biology, industry and so on. In this article, two devices have beenproposed and optimized to detect the elements composition and content in aqueous solutions based onPGNAA technology. The devices have been set up based on the optimized result, several elementshave been measured by the devices, and the modified model has been proposed. Two devices havebeen proposed to detect the elements composition and content in aqueous solutions based on Am-Beneutron source, and they have been optimized with MCNP and MOCA code. The samples of aqueoussolutions with chlorine, mercury, boron and cadmium have been simulated with the optimized devices. The devices, an external-detector-device and an internal-detector-device, have been set up. Thesamples of aqueous solutions with chlorine, mercury, boron and cadmium have been measured withthe external-detector-device. And chloride solution has been measured with the internal-detector-device. The detection limited of elements based on external-detector-device were calculated, chlorineis148.4mg/L, mercury is51.4mg/L, boron is7.0mg/L, Cd is2.5mg/L. And the detection limited ofchlorine based on internal-detector-device is calculated too, the DL of chlorine is about41.7mg/L.Compared with resultsof foreign research, the detection levels of the device can still achieve oreven surpass other setups under the condition of reducing the source activity and measuring time.Thelinearity of character peak counting and elements contentis poor, when the interesting element hashigher cross section. So the g-factor has been carried out to calibrate the linearity. The experimentresult has been corrected with g-factor, and the linearitydependent coefficient of character peak andelements content has been improved. It is better than0.99.
