With increasingly prominent environmental problems, the shortage of social resourcesproblem the polymer matrix composites filled with natural fiber has received more and moreattention from researchers and its application field is becoming more and more widely.In thistopic, environment friendly sisal fiber/polypropylene composites was made by means of hotpress molding with sisal fiber as filler material, polypropylene as matrix material,NaOH lye,maleic anhydride, acetic anhydride, isopropyl titanate as the interface treatment agent.and theprocessing technology of the composite materials, surface treatment process on the influenceof sisal fiber, the properties of sisal fiber/polypropylene composite materials was studied.Through this study, we can get the following conclusions:1) Through the research of hot pressing molding conditions(hot-pressing temperature,pressure, time), the optimum hot-pressing molding condition of composite materials isobtained with temperature of175℃, pressure of9MPa, time for30min.2) Through the sisal fiber of microstructure observing experiment, contact Angle andwater absorption experiment, the result shows that Sisal fiber surface treated with NaOH lye,maleic anhydride or acetic anhydride become rough, and show a lower hydrophily and lowerpolarity.3) Sisal fiber/polypropylene composite material mechanics property test and compositematerials SEM analysis shows that surface treatment process can effectively improve themechanical properties of composite materials, including tensile, bending and impact strength,and the interface bonding between sisal fiber and PP matrix.At the same time it also showsSisal fiber/polypropylene composite material mechanics property treated with NaOH lye andmaleic anhydride is superior to the mechanics property treated with NaOH lye and Aceticanhydride and its mechanics property only treated with NaOH lye is the worst.4) With different fiber filling amount, different length of fiber of modified sisalfiber/polypropylene composite materials mechanics property test, the result shows that whenthe fiber filling quantity is0~25%, the composite materials mechanics performance isincreased with the increase of fiber filling amount, and when the filling amount of fiber in5~35%, length of fiber in2~10mm, the mechanical properties of composite materials can get very good improvement.5) With melt index test of sisal fiber/polypropylene composite materials,the result showsmelt index of sisal fiber/polypropylene composite materials decrease with the increasingfilling volume, length of fiber, and when surface treatment is taken in sisal fiber/polypropylene composite materials the melt index fall more obviously.
