Water damage problem has been a major difficulty of collieries in a long run, withoccasionally mine water inrush of which implies significant potential safety hazard. Littleresearch work was conducted to evaluate the stratified water and its inrush, which is a newlyproposed topic. Generally, the inrush of stratified water is characterized of hardness ofprediction, instantaneously water bursting, and significant damage, which is brought to theforefront. The research, however, mainly focused on the formation mechanism anddistribution of stratifying, as well as applications of grouting no matter at domestic or abroad,rather than to study the condition of stratified water formation and the mechanism of itsinrush. Thus it is necessary to carry out the analysis for stratified water, for the greatimportance of future effective water-controlling measures, and improvement of coal minesafety.Yuhua Coal Mine, located in Jiaoping, Tongchuang, Shaanxi Province, is the main objectof this study. Begin with geological and hydrogeological data; using critical layer theory,materials, mechanics and deformation analysis methods, etc., this paper theoretically analyzesthe overlying strata movement due to No.4-2coal after-mined destruction. Also, the growth ofwater in flowing fractured zone was predicted. Prototyping the working panel of1418, whichis a stratified water inrush multiply occurred roof, this study established numerical model withsimilar materials. The numerical simulation software FLAC3Dand UDEC were utilized forsimulating the1418working panel of No.4-2main mining coal with mining process and thecollapse of overlying strata, to obtain the growth of water flowing fractured zone. In this waythe maximum height growth can be achieved. Meanwhile, through simulation of once similarmaterials, systematic analysis of possible developmental position and after-mined maximumgrowth height of stratified flowing fractured zone of can be determined. Accordingly, bysummarizing the potential position of stratifying space, and the stratifying process, stratified water formation and the mechanism of its inrush of overlying strata at Yuhua Coal Mine canbe obtained, in order to propose effective water-controlling measures and programs.Multiple simulation methods and selected parameters in this paper were used to verifythe theoretical analysis and experimental results. The conclusion is likely to be instructive inmining work at Jiaoping and deep coal resource mining at Huanglong Jurassic mine, as wellas the coal mine safety in future rapid developing economics.
