Aerial passenger device is widely used in mine inclined and level lane to realize the long-distance transportation of the underground workers for its characteristics of simple structure, safe and reliable, convenient maintenance, low investment and so on. Due to aerial passenger device exists hidden danger of runaway fast and rope broken, it will bring economic losses and casualties for mine in the event of fault. And current research of protective measures of such accidents is still insufficient, so the research of runaway fast and broken rope protection technology has very important significance. Based on the research state and problems discussing of aerial passenger device protectors, the wire rope dynamic model and aerial passenger device dynamic characteristics research, a runaway fast and broken rope protector of obvious braking effect is developed.According to operation characteristics of the aerial passenger device and design principle of runaway fast and broken rope protector, the structure design, hydraulic system scheme and the selection calculation are completed. Virtual prototype of the runaway fast and broken rope protector is built. And optimization design of the protector is accomplished based on strength and rigidness checking of the main mechanical parts by the ANSYS finite element analysis software. The overall scheme of monitoring system is proposed, the control system in core of S7-200PLC and the PC monitoring interface developed by configuration software MCGS are designed. In accordance with the layout principle of runaway fast and broken rope protector, the minimum quantity of protectors and the maximum installation distance allowed have carried on detailed calculation and analysis. Combining with actual tension distribution situation of drawing wire rope, the installation layout scheme of protectors is determined.The analysis results and practices show that the structure design of runaway fast and broken rope protector is reasonable, movement is flexible and system is stable and reliable. It can catch the broken rope quickly and stop the running aerial passenger device.
