Carbon anode is one of the main raw materials in the process of the electrolyticaluminum industry production. The calcination of petroleum coke is the first but veryimportant process because it has a great influence on the quality of aluminum anodeproducts. The calcining temperature is a key factor in the rotary kiln calcine processdue to that it’s high or low and stable control or not play a decisive role to the qualityand production of calcined coke.The process of rotary kiln calcination is difficult to establish accuratemathematical model as it is a complex control object with big lag, parameterdistribution, multi-variable, time-varying and coupling, traditional control algorithmalso difficult to obtain ideal results. Most enterprises are still using artificial watchingfire combining with parameters monitored by PC to control the temperature, whichlead to high energy consumption, low productivity and unstable quality.Aiming at the control problems of temperature in the calcine process, thestructure and working principle of rotary kiln are introduced in detail based on therotary kiln calcine process in Ke’ao Electrolytic Aluminum Co. Ltd. At the same time,the influential factors of the rotary kiln calcining temperature are studied based on theanalysis of the raw petroleum coke calcining process.An improved extreme learning machine(ELM) is put forwarded to establish thepredictive model for rotary kiln calcination based on the analysis of the affectingfactors on rotary kiln calcining temperature and the complexity of the rotary kilnsintering process itself. Matlab software is adopted to simulate the predictive modelaccording to the actual production data, the performance of the proposed algorithm isevaluated using experimental results. At the same time, in view of the temperaturecontrol requirements, a fuzzy immune adaptive PID control strategy is proposed basedon the theroy of intelligent technology and traditional PID combined with theprediction algorithm to realize the control of temperature through the constant amountcontrol of raw petroleum, compared with traditional PID control strategy, the one hassmall overshoot amount, short transition time, good steady-state performance, etc.Finally, in view of the parameters detected in the temperature control processeven the whole calcining control process has yet to achieve effective integrationcombining with anode calcine workshop production status, the hardware and softwaredesign of rotary kiln calcine monitoring system are introduced in detail based on the background of the implementation of enterprise information management in Ke’aoElectrolytic Aluminum Co.Ltd. The monitoring system has been in a commissioningstate.
