Nowadays, the resin with high water permeability resistance as fabric coating ismainly fluorinated acrylic copolymer and fluoride-free acrylic copolymer.Fluoride-free acrylic resin was used as the research object in this paper to solve thedisadvantages of fluorinated acrylic resin, which are expensive and toxic. The paperhad primarily studied the relationship between molecular weight of fluoride-freeacrylic resin and water permeability resistance. And study on the preparation ofacrylic-microPCM as fabric coating was carried on in the paper as well.The paper used the industrialied formula of acrylic resin provided by acooperative company, in which butyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate and acrylonitrile wereused as main comonomers, hydroxyethyl methyacrylate and hydroxypropylmethyacrylate as functional monomers. The optimum technological conditions ofhigh molecular weight of acrylic resin as fabric coating had been studied, as well asthe relationship between molecular weight and water permeability resistance. Theexperimental results indicated that water permeability resistance of the acrylic resincoated fabric was enhanced with increasing of the molecular weight of the acrylicresin. The results showed that the weight-average molecular weight of copolymercould reach to6.86106, the final conversion rate was98.11%and water permeabilityresistance was above instrument maximum range (2000mmH2O) at followingoptimization of polymerization conditions, chosen AIBN as the initiator and thedosage of0.66wt%, homemade inorganic-organic macromolecular (PVA mixture) asdispersing agent and1.5wt%, and the temperature and time of the suspensionpolymerization were65oC and6hours respectively under pH7.5of reaction media.The paper selected octadecane (melting point is28℃, fit to human body) as corematerial of microPCM, ethyl acrylate-hydroxypropyl methacrylate copolymer as shellmaterial, divinyl sulfone (DVS) as crosslinking agent. The experimental resultsindicated the microPCM was spherical with the diameter in the range of200-400nm.The results showed DVS could crosslink with the hydroxyl groups on shell surfaceand improve the heat resistance and the water resistance of the shell material. Finally, DVS-microPCM and acrylic resins obtained at the optimum conditionswere applied together for the fabric coating. The results showed that the fabriccoating had endothermal and exothermal effect and the water permeability resistancereached to1910mmH2O. In summary, the new type of fabric coating with high waterpermeability resistance and phase-change heat preservation function had beenprepared successfully.
