The pollution level, bioavailability, pollution sources and their contribution rate toheavy metals in the dustfall and TSP from Xiamen city were systematically studied inthis thesis. The main conclusions were summarized as follow:The average contents of Fe, Mg, Zn, Ti, Mn, Ba, Cu, Sr, Cr, Pb, Ni, V and Co industfall were49024.82,4797.20,4398.06,2734.92,795.89,787.32,443.51,195.28,174.16,147.45,40.34,27.76,11.165mg/kg, respectively. Most of samples were poll-uted by different kinds of heavy metals to some extent in comparison to the backgrou-nd values of A horizon soil in Xiamen city. Overall, industrial zone showed seriouspollution, followed by traffic area and business area, the scenic area and residentialarea showed slight pollution. The average bioavailability of heavy metals in dustfallwas in this order: Sr(85.50%)>Cu(83.67%)>Zn(78.08%)>Mg(71.87%)>Pb(65.66%)>Mn(54.31%)>Ni(44.67%)>Co(42.72%)>V(18.63%)>Cr(17.60%)>Ba(16.85%)>Fe(10.47%)>Ti(1.76%), and the order of scenic area>residentialarea>industrial area>business area>traffic area was for functional areas. Heavy metals content in dustfallextracted by diluted nitric acid had the best correlation with content of F1+F2extracted by BCR method. The results of pollution assessment for heavy metals in dustfall were basically inagreement: Zn and Cu showed serious pollution, followed by Cr, Sr, Mg, Ni, Pb,while the pollution of Ba, Fe, Co, Mn, Ti, V were gentle. In general, scenic areashowed the most serious pollution, residential area showed the lightest pollution, while the other areas showed almost equivalent pollution. The ratio of secondary toprotogenic (RSP) evaluation showed the result: residential area>scenic area> indus-trial zone>business area>traffic area, in agreement with the bioavailability of heavymetals for different areas.Multivariate statistical analysis, Pb and Sr isotopic composition analysis for heavymetals in dustfall indicated that the result of acid soluble lead isotopic analysis wasconsistent with multivariate statistical analysis and Pb-Sr isotopic composition analysis: the main sources of dustfall were coal-fired and traffic emission. The resultshowed it was easy to trace pollution sources by using acid soluble lead isotopiccomposition. The average contents of Mg, Fe, Ti, Sr, Mn, As, Cu, Pb, Cr, V, Li, Ni, Cd, Co inTSP were5879.93,4493.55,659.39,296.73,221.78,114.22,107.16,58.94,22.17,21.04,16.46,10.42,9.05,4.57ng/m3, respectively. For functional areas, traffic areasuffered the most serious pollution, followed by industrial area, and the least wasresidential area. The results of pollution assessment for heavy metals in TSP weremainly consistent: Cd and As showed the worst pollution of, followed by Cu, Sr, Mgand Pb, while the other elements showed slight pollution. Overall, all areas werepolluted by heavy metals at different level. The results of multivariate statisticalanalysis and lead isotopic analysis for heavy metals in TSP showed the primarysource of lead in TSP was natural sources with the contribution rate of more than43.56%.
