In this paper, one-dimensional rutile TiO2nanowire arrays material was prepared bya hydrothermal method on FTO substrate, with N719dye sensitizing photoanodes toassemble dye-sensitised solar cells (DSSC) and measure photovoltaic performance ofdevice. The research mainly investigated the growth mechanism of material, theprecursr volume in hydrothermal method, the time of reaction and etching, and thesolvent composition impact on micro morphology of TiO2nanowire arrays Themorphology and composition of film was observed by SEM, the atomic forcemicroscopy tested surface roughness of thin film materials, we analysised the crystalstructure of material by XRD, UV-Vis Spectrophotometer responsed the performance ofmaterials and the width of forbidden band and the characterization of deviceperformance parameters via J-V measurements.In order to prepare the TiO2seed layer, the FTO substrates were immersioned intoan aqueous solution of0.2M TiCl4and keeping at70oC for half an hour,and then theTiCl4-treated substrates were annealed at550oC for1h.By comparing differentprecursor solutions a series of length-diameter ratio NWAs were prepared to conduct theeffect brought by different volume and different time.The as-prepared rutile TiCl4NWAs were etched for different hours. In different etching time of TiO2nanowires arrayassembly device, when etching3h preparation device efficiency is2.21%.NWAs were prepared using absolute ethyl alcohol.With the test of UV-visabsorbance spectra of photoanodes, the NWAs has the best light-harvesting ability in therange of370to390nm and the band gap can also be calculated3.332to3.276eV. Afteranalyzing the J-V curves of the assembled DSSCs,the optimum condition to compositethe photoanodes is25ml ethyl alcohol, in which case we can get the rutile TiO2NWAs with film thickness up to29.52μm, open-circuit voltage646mV,short-circuitcurrent density5.47mA/cm2and fill factor0.76.When applied as the photoanodes inDSSCs,a high efficiency of2.82%was achieved.
