With the increasingly development of national economy and the acceleration of industrialization, a large amount of industrial sewage and domestic waste was discharged into the water. Therefore the problem of environment pollution is becoming more and more serious. Water environment problem not only does harm to the survival of human race, but also affect the development of national economy construction. Thus it has always been one of the most concerned problems of Chinese government.As the important aspect of water environment problem, water quality problem is always the key point of actual life. With the development of water quality simulation technology, more and more of the water quality model was developed and applied to actual life. Known as the important method to comprehend the changing process of water quality, the analysis of water quality simulation has great significant to reservoir operation management. As the advanced city in Guangzhou, Shenzhen’s economy is developed quickly and the growth of population is rapid. The water environment problem is becoming the key factor to restrict its development. As the main reservoir of Shenzhen, the water quality of Shiyan reservoir plays an important role in the daily life of the resident. Thus it is urgent to carry out further study of the water quality research of Shiyan reservoir. After the reviewed the progress of water quality model research, dissolved oxygen, ammonia nitrogen, total phosphorus and total nitrogen were taken as the main water quality index according to the geographical and hydrological features. After the parameter calibration and verification of the simulation result, WASP model was proved to be proper.In addition with the development of GIS technology, in order to make up for the insufficiency of the spatial analysis of the water quality model’s simulation results, a growing number of researches combining GIS and water quality model was carried out at home and abroad. According to the existing data and the actual situation of Shiyan reservoir and on the basis of the analysis of the multiple integration methods, outreach integrated method was selected to show the change of time and space of each water quality index. The result shows that in the process of abrupt change of the pollutant concentration, e segment’s concentration was larger than other segments. The causes were that there are a large number of industry, agriculture and residents in the upstream of Shiyan reservoirs. A large amount of fertilizers, industrial sewage and domestic waste water was discharged into water bodies which causes serious pollution.Research results showed that WASP model integrated with GIS technology in the application of Shiyan reservoir is good, theory and method were provided for the governance and planning of Shiyan reservoir and has certain reference significance for the further study of water quality model.
