Landfill leakage caused serious environmental pollution, countries around theworld for such pollution has issued relevant laws and regulations on landfill leakagemonitoring. Compared to traditional leakage monitoring technology,3D onlineelectrical monitoring system can carry on real-time monitoring from construction tooperation. When leakage occur, early warning can be transfer to others via theInternet. Current research of landfill leakage real-time monitoring in our country isstill in the phase of experimental analysis, there is no mature products used in landfill.Based on the hardware and software, there has been developed the3Delectrical monitoring system of instrument. The hardware includes host, launch powersource, acquisition system, measuring devices and PC. The instrument can carry onthe real-time monitoring of landfill leakage, besides, also could continuously monitorthe spread of pollutants in the ground if the leakage occurred. Each acquisition systemstation loads a couple of measuring electrodes.The number of measuring electrodes isfrom20to60. The whole number of measuring electrodes should be chosenaccording to the landfill conditions. The maximum number of measuring electrodeswhich the system load is5120. Software part includes observation systemmanagement, data collection, interpretation of leakage, information query module, etc.Leakage monitoring system was realized through operating software operation, suchas the past information, data interpretation results, etc., furthermore, the monitoringdata can be shared between users and regulators.In order to explore the factors which affecting the effects of seepage monitoring,the experiment which in-situ simulated landfill leakage process is carried out in thecondition of non-uniform site, different positions of remote electrodes, brokenequipment and different environment of potential electrodes. All above can providethe data support for the instrument.The instrument is applied to a solid waste disposal center of Inner Mongolia.Landfill area covers an area of about2.47x104m2, about200m long,150m wide. The landfill have a double-deck membrane.The instrument is installedduring the construction of landfill.There are15column electrode cable,which cablespace is10m.Each column cable is equipped with20measuring electrodes,whichelectrode space is10m.That successfully tested the construction quality of membraneshows the reliability of the instrument.
