In our research, effect of probiotics L. plantarum P-8with independent intellectual property rights on experimental animals Cobb-500broilers was studied by comparing with those without probiotics and/or with antibiotics. Through the analysis of broiler slaughter performance, meat quality and nutrient metabolism, probiotic L. plantarum P-8could be considered as an acceptable substitute for antibiotics. The results were listed below:1. DGGE technique was used to study the diffenences of intestinal flora of these three groups with different age. The results showed that strip abundance of the probiotic group was significantly better than that of the others. Clustering results obviously divided the broilers into three groups, which is in accordance with the previous classification.2. Probiotics can significantly improve the performance of broilers at slaughter rate, eviscerated rate and pectoral rate. Both probiotic and antibiotic group can significantly improve the performance of broilers at slaughter rate, but it in probiotic group was0.37%higher than that of the antibiotic group(P<0.05).3. Probiotics can significantly reduce water loss rate and shear force of broiler leg muscle and water loss rate of leg musle(P<0.05).4. Probiotic group can significantly improve cude fat and total calcium metabolism rat of broliers. Probiotic and antibiotic groups can significantly improve the total energy, crude protein, total phosphorus metabolic rate(P<0.05), and probiotic group increase0.15%,1.1%,0.23%compared with antibiotic group. In summary, dietary supplementation of probiotics L: plantarum P-8can improve carcass trait, meat quality and nutrients metabolic rate of broilers, so we can conclude probiotics L. plantarum P-8may substitute antibiotics in feeds.
