With dwindling of natural resources, deteriorating of environment, people’s awareness ofenvironmental protection has become more enhanced. The biomass fiber materials havewidely variety of sources, and they are environmental and recycled. They have beenincreasingly concerned. Currently, the biomass fiber materials mostly as filler have beenadded to PE、PP or other resin, and the complete degradation can not be achieved. When thematerials have a high content of fiber material, the production process usually arecompression molding or injection molding, which can not be achieved continuously. This topics base on waste paper fiber mainly, and starch auxiliarily. They are heated inwater bath after mixing sufficiently with a small amount of environmental additives. Thebiomass fiber materials can achieve half a fluid form by the flowing effect of gelatinizedstarch. They can be extruded continuously through the extruder, and have the same shape by adie to integer. This method can make packaging materials continuously, which have excellentdensity, size, mechanical properties. Specifically, this paper studies the following aspects:(1) Analyze for structural properties of waste paper fiber and starch, and observe thesurface morphology diagram before and after mixing by using a scanning electron microscope.Found that waste fiber and starch do not change their surface morphology, but after they canbe heated in water bath, paper fibers can be combined with starch tightly by effecting ofgelatinized starch.(2) On the basis of a large number of single-factor test, by orthogonal test to explorerheological properties of paper fiber and starch mixed material system, mainly includinguniformity, viscosity and viscoelasticity of different starch types, starch content andplasticizer ratios. And to determine the best starch types, starch content and plasticizer ratios:Corn starch,20%starch content, the composite plasticizer ratio1(the mass ratio of urea andglycerin1:3).(3) Based on the above the best formulation, through single factor experiment to study theeffect of extrusion-drying process parameters such as screw speed, temperature andpre-drying methods, mainly including the state and quality of extrusion products and otherphysical properties. And to determine the optimal screw speed and processing temperature:35r/min screw speed,80-90-85℃three-temperature process, but for pre-drying method, thiscan choose according to the performance.(4) Based on the best formulation and process parameters, the biomass fiber materials canbe pre-dried in an oven and processed in the mold. Then properties test of the biomassmaterials can be made, and practical model of biomass packaging materials can be established.By using ANSYS software, the stress and strain of the practical model will be simulated under different directions and size. The results show that the biomass packaging materials has goodmechanical properties. In a word, the results show that the paper fiber based materials by extrusion moldingprocess for preparing biomass packaging materials is feasible. The biomass materials not onlycan recycle packaging waste cartons, and achieve a continuous production of biomasspackaging materials. The results of research projects can provide a foundation for continuingthis new type of environmentally friendly materials, with a high reference value.
