Karelinia caspicas heavy metal tolerance to Cadmium, and Lead stress has testedthrough potted experiments. And under laboratory condition, influence of Cadmiumand Lead stress on absorption of Iron, and at different concentrations of Cadmium andLead stress on seedling growth of Karelinia caspia was studied, and the effects ofCadmium and Lead stress at different concentrations on relative conductivity, chlorophyll content, MDA content, CAT, SOD and POD were detected then by usingtransmission electron microscope to observe the influence of Cadmium and Leadstress on its damage on submicroscopic structure. The results showed that Kareliniacaspica has a certain tolerance on Cadmium and Lead stress. Karelinia caspicas rootsystem can accumulate327.61mg/kg Cadmium and180.51mg/kg Lead respectively. The results indicate that Karelinia caspia has strong tolerance ability to Cadmiumstress and certain tolerance ability to Lead stress. When concentration is highKarelinia caspias accumulation ability increases correspondingly. Cadmium and Leadstress can significantly promote the absorption of Iron, Cadmium and Lead stresscould inhibit growth of Karelinia caspia seedling, As Cadmium concentrationincreased, germination rate and germination potential, vigor index, fresh weight, dryweight, root length, plant length all presented declining trends. When the Leadconcentration is high Karelinia caspia seed germination rate increased, germinationpotential, vigor index, fresh weight, dry weight, root length, long strains showed atrend of decline. As Cadmium concentration increased, relative conductivity of Karelinia caspia leafsignificantly increased, MDA content increased, CAT, POD and SOD increased andhad fluctuation situation, and chlorophyll content significantly declined. As Leadconcentration increased relative conductivity significantly increased, MDAsignificantly increased, CAT, POD activity increased and had fluctuation situation,SOD activity was significantly increased, chlorophyll content dropped significantly.Electron microscope results showed that the heavy metal Cadmium and Lead stresshave stronger toxic effect on the submicroscopic structure of leaf cells, make thechloroplast membrane ruptured, chloroplast disintegrated, mitochondria to the brink of disintegrate; Nuclear chromatin condensation, cytoplasm cells unequallydistributed, massive Cadmium and Lead stress deposits were observed in the outercell membrane, the higher the concentration are greater the damage to the cells.Karelinia caspia has very strong tolerance to Cadmium stress, and has a certaintolerance to Lead stress, it could be used as candidate plant for bioremediation ofCadmium and Lead polluted environment.
