During the process of oilfield development, there will be generating a great deal of waste water with oil and other impurities. Gravity oil-water separator is one of the main devices in processing oily-water from different sources. Due to being subject to shortage of high processing capacity and low separation efficiency, the gravity oil-water separator does not apply to all of the oil-field separating tasks. Even so, it is worth putting efforts for the optimization design of the Gravity oil-water separator because of its cost saving and technology quite mature. The very separating equipment for the oily waste water coming from the flush fluid was chosen as the research object. By using computational fluid dynamics simulations, internal flow field distribution and the process of oil-water separation can be described in details. By comparison analyzing different simulation results of the separator with different internals, factors affecting the efficiency of oil-water separation can be known. And these results can provide some references for internals physical designing of the separator. The work was carried out in three aspects as follow:(1) Make sure that other conditions are invariant and then study the effect of the space and quantity of rungs on separation efficiency.(2) Make sure that other conditions are invariant and then study the relationship between the space and quantity of the swash plates in the separator and the separation efficiency of the separator.(3) Change the size of support component in the separator with other conditions unchanged. And then these simulation results will show the relationship between the size parameters of support component and the separation efficiency in the separator and prove the existence of the support component is necessary or not.
