Jinchuan nickel-copper sulfide ore contains large amounts of serpentine whose surface easily happen to heterogeneous aggregates with nickel sulfide ore, serpentine slime not only reduce the flotation recovery of nickel sulfide minerals,but also downstream processing problems. Research on the effect and mechanism between serpentine and sulfide.For Jinchuan nickel ore and nickel sulfide ore serpentine-phase condensation problems, the paper used pyrite instead of pentlandite as a single mineral flotation investigation of the interaction between olivine,pyroxene, different grade quartz and serpentine,respectively and conformation of the function of different graded quartz in the separation of serpentine and pyrite has already studied. The main research results obtained as follows:Zero isoelectric point of pyrite is less than2,while serpentine is10.4.with the opposite surface electric character, pyrite has the good natural flotation ability campared with the serpentine. In flotation both prone to heterogeneous aggregation.It is not obivious for the serpentine inhibiting the flotation of pyrite under the acid condition.while it is totally different under the alkaline condition.zero isoelectric point of Olivine and pyroxene, quartz were4.1,3.4,2.4,respectively. In a wide range of pH, three minerals have the good hydrophilicity, poor hydrophobicity, result in difficultly adsorpting xanthate.Through the interaction between olivine,pyroxene, quartz and serpentine respectively,it occurs the heterogeneous aggregation which will reduce surface contact sites of serpentine. Olivine and pyroxene, quartz are added in serpentine and pyrite system, under the same grade, according to the DLVO theory, pyroxene abate serpentine best heterogeneous condensation effect of pyrite, next is quartz,and olivine is the weakest. Nano-sized quartz at the same time can obviously decrease serpentine inhibitory effect on pyrite,-20+10nm SiO2best,-55+45nm SiO2is the worst. Flotation results show that the olivine and pyroxene, quartz can improve the flotation rate of pyrite, pyrite and nano-sized quartz can significantly improve the flotation rate of pyrite. Add (magnesium) silicate minerals can decrease the serpentine surface contact site, increase the pyrite surface amyl xanthate adsorption sites.
