Research On The Tectonic Of Glued Lumber Bamboo In Furniture Design

Tectonic of glued laminated bamboo (GLB) in furniture design was progressively studied in this thesis with the research methods of literature arrangement and induction, analysis of interdisciplinary, and examples and graphs presentation etc. to promote the application of "Tectonic" in the field of furniture, to raise the awareness and acceptance of glued laminated bamboo furniture (GLBF), to stimulate the innovative design of GLBF, and to provide a reference for design education with "Tectonic" way.Firstly, both the origin and development of tectonic theory and basic contents of three-level tectonic theory were combed to provide the support theory for this thesis. The development of GLB was tidied and which was roughly divided into three stages, the eight constituted types and performance characteristics of GLB were summarized, and the GLBF categories were concluded including frame-type furniture, panel-type furniture and curved furniture, which were used for general understanding GLB and GLBF from the temporal and spatial aspects.Then, the tectonic technologies of GLB in furniture design were analyzed from the three aspects including bamboo functional processing, molding processing of GLB and furniture parts processing. For bamboo functional processing, the technological principles and characteristics of anti-mildew/anti-corrosion/anti-moth processing were clarified, and the methods of bamboo cooking and carbonization of bamboo were focused and the common technical parameters were presented. For molding processing of GLB, the technological process of GLB molding was summarized and the key technical points were focused to discuss. For furniture parts processing, the technological process of frame-type furniture and panel-type furniture was concluded respectively, and the main technical characteristics were explained.Furthermore, the tectonic beauty of GLB in furniture was resolved from the two levels of structure and material. The tectonic beauty of structure including "force","soft","structure that is decoration" and "DIY of structure" was analyzed, and the tectonic beauty of material including impression of "move", movement of "playing", order of "harmony", charm of "regeneration" and savoring of "vague" was discussed.Finally, the tectonic significances of GLB in furniture design were explained from three dimensions combined with resolving outstanding cases of GLBF at home and abroad. Ecological concept was embodied through making the best use of GLB, and making removable and modular of GLBF parts. And human-oriented spirit was wonderful annotated through general adaptation with differentiation of GLBF design and fun&entertainment of GLBF. And traditional culture was inherited and innovated though the "recycling" symbol of GLBF and the "charm" heritage of GLBF.
