Clothing, is both a historical memory, also a kind of language, even akind of culture. A designer without cultural deposits will not have longcreativity and occupation life. Hanfu, the most representative traditionalChinese clothing, has been the important carrier of the Chinese traditionalculture. Combing its development history, discussing its profound culturaldeposits, and carrying forward its culture, can Stimulate people’s nationalpride and self-confidence, and improve Chinese "soft power"; At the sametime, seriously study and dig out deep cultural connotation of Hanfu canbring beneficial enlightenment for the modern fashion design, enhancecultural connotation of modern fashion design to make Chinese clothingdesign self-supporting in the worldwide.The development of Hanfu synchronize with the development ofChinese civilization. After thousand years of development andaccumulation, each element has its special meaning. Profound culturalconnotation can be shown from style, accessories, color, costume systems,to the production process. Hanfu is a witness of the various social factorsdeveloped and changed of Chinese history from the certain point of view.The Hanfu is the embodiment of Haan nationality culture, aesthetictendency, social value, cultural customs, and so on. The national spirit,philosophy, ethics,"the ritual" law system, concept of the universecontained in Chinese traditional culture are all fully expressed in Hanfu. Clothing does not only have the physical function of warm and coveringyour shame, but also the carrier of showing beauty and bearing beauty,which can show a person’s identity, status, temperament and situation.Beauty is becoming important props of various kinds of image creation.No matter what literary works and paintings, sculptures and other artforms, Hanfu has been an important element performance of themselves.This thesis adoptes literature research method, history method, fieldsurvey method, and comparative research method to discuss the concept,origin and development history of Hanfu; unscramble the fashion,accessories, color, costume system, and the cultural connotation containedin manufacturing process of Hanfu from the microscopic view; throughthe relationship between Hanfu and traditional social factors (such as thephilosophy and aesthetics, ethics, religion, etc…), deeply analysis culturalelements of Hanfu; discuss the cultural connotation which Hanfu carriesand reflects from the art forms like Chinese traditional literature, painting,sculpture and modern film and television works and so on; based onsystematic analysis and understand traditional Hanfu culture connotation,discuss and analyze how to excavate the cultural connotation and designelements of Hanfu to provide inspiration for modern fashion design, formits own characteristics for the Chinese clothing design, finally achievesustainable development on the background of the foreign strong cultureand postmodern aesthetic. In the modern society, all kinds of foreign clothing forms occupy thedominant position, so that people’s aesthetic standards and aestheticconsciousness has been changed. But the Hanfu still has a unique value.The research of Hanfu culture connotation can help us better understandthe traditional culture, and promote the culture deposits of modern designto supply the inexhaustible power for the sustainable development of themodern design. In the background of postmodern design and aesthetics,the significance will be more profound for strengthening the nationalidentity of compatriots, through various channels to discover and inheritsthe beneficial elements of Hanfu.
