In order to explore the characteristic of the growth height of water-fractured zone as well as laws of the overlying strata destruction of the working face of Pansan Mine in Panxie mine area, three methods were applied the empirical equation, numerical simulation calculation and field test, the detailed works were done as follows:(1)At first, characteristics of overburden rock movement and the water-fractured zone generated afterwards were studied; Later, Theory of Key Strata Discrimination were referenced to preliminarily determine the key strata of the overburden rocks.(2)Combining with the actual conditions of the overburden rocks and exploiting ways, numerical software UDEC was used to analyze the failure characteristics of overburden rocks and the water-fractured fractured zone generated afterwards. Through analyzing on the sinking curves and displacement of the vertical direction of the overburden rocks in various stages, laws of overburden movement were obtained. The height of the caving zone was figured out by studying on the tensile zone of the model. Likewise, the development height of water-flowing fractured zone was determined at last.(3)By using various kinds of studying methods, the height of water-fractured zone was forecasted and proved to be of50meters high. The research may of importance to future exploitation under similar conditions in Panxie Mine area.
