In modern continuous casting process, the properties of the mould directly affectthe caster efficiency and the billet quality. The coatings with high strength, hightoughness, good corrosion resistance and wear resistance can be obtained on themould surface, which can prolong the service life of the mould. Now the mouldsare electroplated nickel-base alloy. The nano-composite electroplating technology isnew composite surface technology based on electrochemical principle, the nanoparticles and metal ion are deposited on the cathode surface, the nano compositecoating with some special function is prepared.In order to improve the copper surface properties of the mould, the study aboutNi base nano-ZrO2composite plating on the mould copper plate is carried out underlaboratory conditions, using orthogonal test method,the effect factors such as currentdensity, temperature, pole pitch and ZrO2concentration in electrolyte on hardness,wear resistance and corrosion resistance of composite coating were investigated inthis paper. Under the conditions of pH:4.0, plating time:10h, high-middle speed airagitation, the optimum process parameters are as follows: plating temperature:65℃,cathode current density:3A/dm2, pole pitch:10cm, the weight of Nano-ZrO2:4g/L. Theeffects of hardness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance of composite coatingwere studied, and the surface structure was observed by SEM. The results show thatthe Ni based nano-ZrO2composite plating can improve the hardness, wear resistanceand corrosion resistance; By heat treated in different temperature, the hardness, hightemperature oxidation resistance and residual stress of the pure nickel coating andcomposite coating were studied. Compared with pure nickel coating, the nanocomposite coating exhibits more excellent performance. The layer with goodproperties can be obtained in this method.
