In recent years, coordination polymers have attracted more and more attentiondue to their beautiful structures and novel properties. The structure and properties ofcomplexes are closely related with the used organic ligand and metal ions. There aremany factors which have a great influence on the structures and properties ofcomplexes in the process of synthetic complex, such as solvent, temperature, ratio ofraw materials, the pH of solution. In recent decades, organic carboxylic acid ligandshave been largely used in the synthesis of metal-organic frameworks complexes, clusters, optical materials, magnetic materials for their strong coordination abilityand flexible coordination model. Taking these characteristics into consideration, wechoose organic carboxylic acid ligand [1,1’:3’,1’’-Terphenyl]-3,3’’,5,5’’-tetracarboxylic acid as the main ligand, and then we synthesized12complexeswith novel structure. The coordination polymers were characterized by X-ray singlecrystal diffraction, elementary analysis, IR, Thermogravimetric analyses andmagnetic properties have been studied for some coordination polymers.1. Based on [1,1’:3’,1’’-Terphenyl]-3,3’’,5,5’’-tetracarboxylic acid (H4TPTA)and4,4’-bipyridine, four metal-organic frameworks complexes are hydrothermallysynthesized, namely,[Co(TPTA)0.5(4,4′-bpy)0.5(H2O)2]n(1),[Ni(TPTA)0.5(4,4′-bpy)0.5(H2O)2]n(2),[Co2(TPTA)2(4,4′-bpy)(H2O)3]n(3),{[Cd2(TPTA)(4,4′-bpy)0.5H2O]·3H2O}n(4). Complexes1and2are isomorphism complexes, and they are3D4-fold parallel interpenetrated structure with small holes. Compared with thesynthetic method of complex1and2, we changed the solvent and then synthesizedcomplex3. Complex3is a3D framework that consists of Co(II) tetranuclear.Complex4also is a3D framework, but it consists of Co(II) dinuclear.2. Based on [1,1’:3’,1’’-Terphenyl]-3,3’’,5,5’’-tetracarboxylic acid (H4TPTA)and2,2’-bipyridine/1,10-Phenanthroline monohydrate, eight coordinationpolymers are hydrothermally synthesized, namely [Co(H2TPTA)(2,2′-bpy)]n(5),{[Mn2(TPTA)(2,2′-bpy)H2O]·H20}n(6),[Cd2(TPTA)(2,2′-bpy) H2O]n(7),[Zn4(TPTA)2(2,2′-bpy)2H2O]n(8),[Mn(H2TPTA)(phen)]n(9),[Co(H2TPTA)(phen)]n(10),[Zn(H2TPTA)(phen)]n(11),[Cd(H2TPTA)(phen)]n(12). Complex5is a one-dimensional chain structure. Complex6and7are isomorphic complexes with a2D double layer structure. Coordination8is a2D double layer structure too.Complexes9,10,11and12are isomorphism with one-dimensional chain structure.Magnetic studies of complexes5,6,9and10reveal weak antiferromagneticinteractions.
