In this dissemination, dicumyl peroxide (DCP) was used as the initiator, silane coupling agent y-methacryloxypropyl trimethoxy silane(KH-570) was grafted on ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene(UHMWPE), the graft polymer hydrolysised to cross-link with dibutyltin dilaurate (DBTDL), and then to get cross-linked UHMWPE.In the paper with changing the content of KH-570, the mechanical properties, thermal properties, hardness and crystallization properties of cross-linked UHMWPE which was produced by different formulations were investigated by tensile strength test、the gel ratio test, vicat softening point test, hardness test and DSC to find the optimal process conditions and the best content of the silane coupling agent. the characteristic peak of cross-linked UHMWPE for the Si-O-C group in the wave number1020.31was found by IR test. The results show that when the content of DCP was0.15portion、the content of DBTDL was0.5portion and moderate silane coupling agent KH-570, UHMWPE cross-linked successfully; the more the content of KH-570, the higher the gel ratio of the cross-linked UHMWPE, the cross-linked structure became more and more better; at low content of KH-570, the tensile strength, melting point, degree of crystallization of the cross-linked UHMWPE increased with more KH-570; at high content of KH-570, these performances of cross-linked UHMWPE turned bad; when the content of KH-570was0.3portion, the comprehensive properties of cross-linked UHMWPE was the best, the vicat softening temperature increased by about10℃compared with the pure UHMWPE, shore D hardness increased by about6; the tensile strength increased to41.3MPa, melting point increased to136.56℃, degree of crystallization reached58.3%.
